USA – Consulting – Structured Finance – Intern – Summer 2027

Will you shape the future or will the future shape you?

The opportunity

At EY Consulting, we are building a better working world by transforming businesses through the power of people, technology, and innovation. Our clients are at the heart of what we do. We’re focused on solving the key issues of our client buyers, building deeper relationships and generating lasting value with significant impact.

Our firm sets the standard for consulting services, fostering an environment that encourages career ownership at every stage. As a part of our Structured Finance team, you'll be at the forefront of this dynamic service line, driving change and delivering solutions that revolutionize business operations. You’ll help our clients with transformation and innovation efforts: driving growth, reducing costs and managing risks proactively.

Your key responsibilities

Within the Financial Services Organization (FSO), our Structured Finance team provides services to investment banks and asset managers, primarily supporting our clients by providing valuation and consulting services across the entire securitization and derivative lifecycle. This includes helping them prepare important transaction materials prior to deal issuance. These transactions include asset-backed securities (ABS), residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), collateralized loan obligations (CLO) and derivative products across asset classes.

Our Structured Finance team is highly collaborative and you will always have the support of your team while working on multiple high-profile projects. As part of the team, you will follow projects from start to finish, taking on a wide range of responsibilities and gaining exposure to opportunities to learn new skills, tools and processes. This could mean using your eye for detail to identify errors in important transaction documents to reduce risk for our clients, using your analytical expertise to develop or review technical models or documents and directly influencing our clients through meetings and presentations.

Structured Finance is a challenging specialist area, so you won’t be expected to hit the ground running – you will learn as you go. If you are naturally curious, genuinely interested in this area and ready to engage with our clients, there’s no limit to how far you can go here.

As a Structured Finance intern, you will:

  • Deliver on a broad range of tasks to support our clients’ needs related to securitization of a variety of asset types.
  • Review transaction documents and verify information as accurate and complete.
  • Assist with drafting and delivering agreed-upon procedures reports to clients.
  • Recalculate information on large sets of data and prepare exception reports presented to clients.
  • Learn about the cash flow models used to recalculate payments due to investors and convey this knowledge to colleagues and clients.
  • Deliver consulting services in the areas of model development, model validation, market risk analytics and model governance.
  • Stay abreast of industry news and trends, all while actively identifying potential risks and opportunities to improve our products and services.

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role, you must:

  • Be pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a relevant discipline, supported by a strong academic record.
  • Have excellent collaboration skills and the confidence to speak up, challenge assumptions and influence strategy as part of a team.
  • Take an analytical approach to learning and development and have the dedication to actively pursue new opportunities to learn.
  • Have an inclusive mindset, where you seek out and embrace diverse perspectives, value differences and team inclusively to build safety and trust.
  • Know how to effectively leverage firm approved AI tools to enhance problem-solving and productivity and have the ability to exercise sound judgment around AI-related risks and considerations.
  • Be able to assess and articulate the evolving risks that AI presents to clients across multiple risk domains.
  • Understand that the expectation for this role is in person teaming, at a client site or in an EY office, on average 3 days a week depending on the needs of the engagement, project or practice area.
  • Have access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.
  • Be able and willing to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship, now and in the future.

Ideally you:

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Have existing knowledge of financial products and/or securitization.
  • Are a purpose-driven and growth-oriented professional with a passion for learning, a collaborative mindset and a proven ability to innovate, adapt and leverage technology to drive meaningful change in dynamic business environments.
  • Have proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong academic foundation in business and/or technology and demonstrated ability to evaluate complex issues and develop effective solutions.
