USA – EY-Parthenon – Corporate Finance – Capital Equipment – Summer Associate 2027
Will you shape the future or will the future shape you?
The opportunity
As a Capital Equipment Valuation Analyst, you’ll be combining engineering and financial aspects to value and strategically advise on clients’ machinery and equipment assets. In a role where there is no typical day, you’ll need to be able to jump between analytics, modeling, and internal/external presentations. As well, plan to travel to plants to interview financial management, production engineering management, and CFO’s responsible for their manufacturing operations. It is an opportunity to understand how products are manufactured, come together, and as well how a business works in corporate environments across the globe. You will have the opportunity to be part of the larger Valuation Solutions team that creates and delivers broad, analytics-enabled solutions that align to our client’s focus on corporate finance, strategy, buy and integrate or sell and separate decisions, and reshaping of results.
Your key responsibilities
You’ll need an adaptable work ethic, as you’ll split your time between different roles and responsibilities such as performing on-site manufacturing diligence, interacting with clients, and working within a corporate environment. Your work will vary by engagement – one day you may be working on a project to value a chemical plant and the next day you may be helping to determine the value of telecommunication satellites or preparing client presentations and proposals. On top of this, you’ll need to be comfortable with a hybrid role, encompassing analytical solutions in both engineering and finance.
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role, you must have:
A predicted degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred) with demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship, now and in the future.
The expectation for this role is in person teaming, at client site or in an EY office, a minimum of 60% of the time or on average 3 days a week over the course of an engagement, project or performance year.
Ideally, you will have:
A preferred cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
A genuine interest in financial strategy and a constantly updating understanding of current trends and issues.
Strong MS office skills, especially when modeling using Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, supported by the confidence to work effectively in a high-energy, fast-moving environment.
Proven interest or knowledge in Data Analytics
The ability to influence colleagues and communicate complex concepts simply and effectively to non-technical audiences.
Exposure to discounted cash flow (DCF) valuation methodology.
Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites.
A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.
Knowledge of how to leverage firm-approved AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot.
